The last session of Craigleith Probus Club was influenced by the merger with Blackhall Probus , which had been agreed unanimously by both club memberships.

It was therefore a surprise, that without explanation or warning, Blackhall Probus, rescinded their agreement to the merger, and withdrew their support.

Since then, and following our own Annual General Meeting, your club committee has met, and agreed plans to deliver an exciting programme for next session.

One of the key components of our programme, is inviting a wide range of speakers to our meetings, to deliver talks on a variety of topics.

John McLennan, our speaker secretary, is well placed with his syllabus, with talks on murders, fraud, Lenin and perhaps most intriguing on cryptic crosswords, amongst those planned.

We are also keen to have at least one outing and restart our ladies invitation day

Our Treasurer Doug Scott, will in due course be contacting members with relevant details for next session, and as agreed at the AGM, our membership fee will remain at £30.

Iain Rintoul (rintoul03@gmail.com) has been beavering away reconstructing our club website, which once completed will be of considerable benefit to membership.

As with other Probus clubs, the decline in membership numbers needs to be addressed, and I urge members to invite friends, who may interested, to attend one of our meetings, so they can decide whether membership would appeal to them.

 

Craigleith Probus Club is YOUR club, and the club only exists because of you, and I would urge, that if you have a suggestions or ideas, which may help promote or entice new members, please contact one of the committee.

I firmly believe that Craigleith Probus Club, maintains true to the Probus ethos, in that we enable members to meet, chat and enjoy each others company, and in doing so keeping an eye on one other.
